The Spanish destroyed the rulers of the Inca's, and the Aztecs, and the Mayans. Today there are millions of Mayans in North America, Mexican territory. Their lifestyle has changed from 600 BCE, but there is similarities. They have an understanding of their heritage, guided by 'mother-fathers'. Even after the Spanish and the Roman Catholic church was trying to convert them to Christianity ruthlessly suppressing manifestation of their previous mythology, the Mayans were able to keep most of their traditions. The central book of the mythology for the Mayan, is the Popul Vuh, which starts at creation and moves through the eras as marked by their calendar until the end of the world. Here is the books of the Popul Vuh kept alive by a pair of 'mother-fathers' 400 years ago, translated from the Mayan-Spanish it was found in.
