How Humans Got Fire- Chinese Traditional

Long, Long Ago...there was a village in central China where the peasants worked hard all day, but as soon as the sun set they went to sleep because they had no fire. They ate only cold food, and raw meat because they had no fire. And when it got cold they could only shiver for they had no fire.

One day Po Tse Su locked his pig in his house because it had been breaking out of his pen and raiding his neighbours gardens for food. His neighbours had warned him the next time his pig was caught it would be killed and eaten to recompense them for the destruction it caused. However Chu Jung, who liked pigs decided to scare the village. As the god of fire, he struck the hut with a bolt of fire, and the hut burst into flames cooking the pig within.

Po rushed back but found nothing but a few charred remains of his house. In grief, because his pig was clearly also gone, he waded into the ashes and saw the form of his pig. He put his hand on it and drew it back with a yell. Instinctively he licked his hand and then looked at his hand in astonishment. It tasted so good! With a stone knife this time he cut a piece of the pig off and carefully nibbled it. It was very delicious!

Po found a pot and scrapped embers into and quickly found a way of making them create another fire with them. He then shared his roasted pig with his neighbours who were so taken with the taste that they all wanted more. Po then set up his pig cooking establishment but creating small huts into which a pig was placed and by setting it on fire made roast pork. Eventually others way of cooking with fire was found.
